Irene is a graduate of International Relations from Universitas Gadjah Mada and currently serves as one of the research staff members at the Institute of International Studies (IIS) UGM before previously serving as the publication staff. Irene is academically interested in East Asian studies, transnational relations, and nation branding, as seen in her undergraduate thesis about how UNIQLO, a Japanese clothing company, can serve as Japan’s soft power instrument in Indonesia. Her desire to further explore the research world led her to join several projects as a research assistant, including institutionalizing gender audits in Yogyakarta-based universities, supported by the Global Campus Prevention for Violence Prevention.
